The objectives of the project are to increase access to students, improve education quality and facilitate regional integration. The project, with a total investment of 293 million USD from the World Bank, supports 16 institutes upgrading to regional flagship institutes and 3 education ministries strengthening capacities in Kenya, Ethiopia and Tanzania.
We were selected to provide technical assistance and capacity building to develop strategic investment plan (SIP) for 5 institutes in Kenya and 3 institutes in Ethiopia by the World Bank and Inter University Council for East Africa respectively in the preparatory phase of the project. Our experts, working together with our clients, conducted field survey on national development strategy, education policy, demand of market, the situation of institutes, etc,. and identified market needs through data and information analysis. The various training programs for each institute were designed based on demand analysis and validated by the stakeholder’s workshop. To realize the main indicators of the project, activities were systemically designed for main components in terms of institutional capacity strengthening, training programs development and upgrading, curriculum development, staff capacity building, facilities upgrading and outreach of project achievement.  Meanwhile, a series of training for management and staff were conducted to improve the overall capacity. The capacities of the clients were enhanced and the final outcome, SIP passed approval by the World Bank and line ministries of Kenya and Ethiopia, laid a concrete foundation for success.
